DONALD W. REYNOLDS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

A mixed used restoration, renovation & addition for music, opera & dance

The generosity of a $12.2 million grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation makes possible the renovation and expansion of Holmberg Hall, built in 1918 as part of OU’s original campus and one of the university’s key educational and community facilities. The Collegiate Gothic building’s centerpiece is Oklahoma’s only Italianate performance hall, the setting for appearances by famous visitors to Oklahoma, generations of OU student performers, and a wide range of community activities.

The project modernizes and renovates the entire three-story building and its music practice room wing, adds a new stage house, and builds a new facility for the OU School of Dance.

The interior of the 750-seat performance hall was completely demolished and renovated with an eye to its abandoned original design. Renovations include superior theatrical, acoustic and audio/video systems in addition to a new stage tower and orchestra pit. The project also adds multiple stacked dance studios that recreate the size of the Holmberg Hall stage. New patron and performer amenities include generous lobby areas, restrooms, dressing rooms, makeup and wardrobe areas.
